Yamato Izumo Dolls
There’s Izumo Taisha - a shrine in the Izumo region in Shimane Prefecture.
This region is also known as a mythical stage.
Also, there is the oldest shrine in Japan ‘Ohmiwa Jinjya’ in the Izumo region in Sakurai city,
Nara Prefecture- used to called as Yamato.
Okuninushi no Mikoto - believed as god created Japan is enshrined in both Izumo Taisha and Ohmiwa Jinjya.
It seems Shimane and Nara (Yamato) were closely related in ancient times.
According to legend, potters of Izumo in Shimane moved to Nara (Yamato) , and created the
original image of clay doll in the Kofun Period(3rd to 5th century AD).
It’s called Haniwa, and considered to be used for burial ceremonies.
